As you all know the Sydney season of WICKED ended on Sunday night. The night wasozsome with fans, media and the cast and crew of WICKED all buzzing from the emotional high. At the end of the performance all the cast & crew took the stage to give a final farewell as glitter fell from the ceiling of the magnificent Capitol Theatre. It was a great night and although we are sad to say goodbye to Sydney, WICKED is looking forward to opening in Brisbane in January.
In July WICKED in Oz turned two and to mark the occasion the WICKED Company celebrated in style with a Masquerade Ball at the Taronga Zoo Ballroom.
The room was beautifully decorated with green lighting, beautiful ice sculptures, WICKED banners and a looped presentation of so many of the great times that have been had by all since opening in Oz.
A huge thank you must go to our very own Lucy Durack, Ryan Sheppard, Ross Hannaford and Emma Delmenico who were on the Organising Committee for the evening. Thanks too to Constellation Wines for providing the wine and sparkling.

On Monday night, WICKED cast members Lucy Durack, Elisa Colla and James Smith joined a packed crowd at the NSW Swifts v MAGIC netball match at the Sydney Olympic Park Centre. At the quarter time break, Lucy and Elisa participated in ANZ’s shoot out competition. The girls had to see how many goals they could score in sixty seconds, and James was given the responsibility as the official time keeper.
Both girls managed to score 3 goals each in sixty seconds, resulting in a draw. The WICKED cast were back out on the court at half time in order to select the best dressed fan and the fan with the best banner. They were also interviewed by MC Steve Allen and gave a great insight into what it’s like to be in the cast of WICKED. After the game, the happy crowd who were celebrating a Swifts victory, were treated with some WICKED giveaways as they left the centre.
Last Wednesday night WICKED welcomed back to the theatre media organisations to see the show 9 months into the fabulous Sydney season. The evening was a huge success, with wonderful response from all who attended. Check out the photos from the evening.

On Monday evening, May 17, the cast, crew and orchestra of the blockbuster musical WICKED performed a one off charity performance of Stephen Sondheim’s INTO THE WOODS to raise money for the ANZ Trustees Foundation: ANZ Rob Guest Endowment. The sold out performance hosted by Bert Newton, and featuring the WICKED cast including Lucy Durack, Rob Mills, Maggie Kirkpatrick, Zoe Gertz and James Smith, proved an enormous success both artistically and financially.
The performance also served to launch the Rob Guest Endowment for 2010, opening applications from young musical theatre performers. The 2010 winner will be announced at the Rob Guest Endowment Concert at Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre on Monday October 4.
The evening raised over $90,000 so far through ticket sales, an auction of unique WICKED items and donations, with more donations to be processed. This overwhelming success was made possible due to the generous support of WICKED Australia, The Capitol Theatre, the Rob Guest Endowment committee and all who attended.
The WICKED cast, crew and orchestra have spent most of their free afternoons and time between performances over the past two months rehearsing for INTO THE WOODS.
Established in late 2008 after the untimely passing of Rob Guest OBE, The ANZ Trustees Foundation: ANZ Rob Guest Endowment aims to help young emerging artists in the Musical Theatre industry. It was created through the generous and enthusiastic support of ANZ Private and ANZ Trustees. For more information go towww.robguestendowment.com.au
